The Nintendo Amiibo : An Unexpected Success

In late November, Nintendo launched the marketing of its Amiibo in USA and Europe. Sales made an irrational success for these figures.

The Amiibo are figurines with a chip that can transfer the character data to Wii U tablet and 3DS. According to the games, the figurines allow new game modes, provide additional weapons, customizations, record statistics, etc.

The release of Amiibo figures went completely unnoticed, however, they quickly encountered a huge success in the US and Europe. The fans are actually rushed to the figures which, in the opinion of all, are quite ugly, quickly causing an out of stock and the establishment of a parallel market, based on scarcity.

Among the first figures out, some have defects and thus have not been reproduced. These very limited editions defective peaked at auctions. $25 000 for example, for the version of Princess Peach without legs.
