Chaos Computer Club claims it can easily reproduce fingerprints

At Chaos Computer Club, a German hacker (Jan Krissler) has demonstrated how he could reproduce Fingerprint using photographs.

His demonstration included creating a digital copy of a fingerprint of Germany's federal minister of defense, Ursula von der Leyen, using commercially available software called VeriFinger.



If anyone can really use this method as easily as described, it could be a potentially big blow to the use of fingerprints for security purposes.

One reassuring point in this story, no need for thugs to break a phalanx of their victim in order to access a secure area fingerprint!
